About The Library

The Harrison Township Public Library serves the residents of Harrison Township, Michigan. Formed in 2009, the library was operated by volunteers for the first six years. As of 2015, the library is primarily funded through local property taxes.

Our Mission

The mission of Harrison Township Public Library is to connect people to resources that inform, educate, entertain and inspire. We seek to offer our patrons access to a world of knowledge, personal enrichment, and cultural appreciation. We value our patrons, our community, quality of service, and lifelong learning.

 

About Our Librarians

Library Director

Melissa Goins is our Library Director. She has been instrumental in helping the Library grow into its present form and began as a volunteer at the library in 2009. She has served the library as Assistant Director and was the Volunteer Director in our early years. Melissa has worked in public libraries, special libraries, and academic libraries.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Oakland University and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University.

Adult Services Librarian

Kelly Hovinga has worked in libraries for the last six years and is responsible for the DVD collection as well as programming for adults and teens in our community. She has a Masters in Russian History from the Ohio State University, and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Michigan. She does not watch football. Her interests include history, science, cooking, travel, crafts, and board games.

Youth Services Librarian

Tina Rossow has been working in libraries (big and small) since 2004. She has a dual bachelors in Elementary Education and History from Wayne State University and is certified grades K-8. She graduated from Wayne State University in 2011 with a Masters in Library and Information Sciences, specializing in Youth and Teen Services. Tina plans and facilitates all of our children’s programs and maintains our collection of children’s materials.

Youth Programming Associate

Jaime Studer comes to the Harrison Township Public Library from a background in education.  She is a certified teacher retired from public education in 2023.  She has taught 2nd through 8th grades throughout her 25-year career.  She has a Masters in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University and holds her Bachelors in Education from Alma College.  Jaime’s focus at HTPL is elementary and teen programming. She enjoys using her teaching experience to tutor children as well as create fun programming experiences for our local kids.

Community Relations Manager

Kayla Dimick is our Community Relations Manager. Before calling HTPL home, Kayla was a local newspaper reporter. She graduated from Oakland University with a bachelor's in journalism. Kayla wears many hats, one of them being the social media maestro. Outside of work, Kayla is a mama to two little ones and enjoys reading, gardening, and perfecting her homemade bread recipe.
