Automatic Renewals Are Here

Automatic Renewals are Here!

It’s no secret. We’re all busy these days. The one thing we could all use more of is time. Well, you got it! We can do that. The Harrison Township Public Library is pleased to announce that we’re giving you more time…on your checkouts that is. Starting November 1st,  2018, the library launches its new automatic renewal service. You won’t have to do much to keep your items even longer. Materials that can be renewed will now renew automatically if they are not returned by the due date. The standard loan period is 21 days for books and 7 days for DVD movies and television series. The new service will allow users to keep their items for one additional loan period. “We’re always looking for ways to give more to our members,” said library director, Melissa Goins. “This decision was an easy one for us.”

There are some exceptions to the service. An item will not renew if:

  • other customers have requested it and are waiting
  • the item has already been renewed once
  • the customer’s account has a balance of $5 or more

Members will be notified if their items have been automatically renewed. All notices should be read carefully since all items may not be eligible for renewal. Standard overdue charges of 20¢ per day will be charged for all items that could not be renewed automatically for any reason.
