Library Update Project

We're excited to announce a facelift at the library. Over the next few weeks,  you'll see some exciting changes, including an enhanced layout, new seating and study areas, and additional children's computers.

The majority of the renovation project will be funded by the library with support of the Friends of the Library, but we need your help! Volunteers can help  in three ways.

1. We need foster parents - If you can provide a loving home for a box of books during our project, we could use your help. Simply check out a shelf of books (about the size of a copy paper box) beginning September 23 through September 26 before our project starts. All books will be due in 3 weeks after our project is complete. The less we have to move, the easier it is for us! Bringing your own box is helpful but not required.

2. We need help with break down and reassembly - We will dismantle the library Friday, September 27 - Sunday, September 29 (3 days). We need help boxing up materials, dismantling the shelves, and clearing out our space. And we'll need help again reassembling the library beginning on Saturday, October 5th - Thursday, October 10th (5 days). You're welcome to help as little or as much as you can during these days anytime from 9am-6pm. All help is appreciated! Community service hours will be honored for all high school students. Please visit or call the library at (586)329-1261 to sign up as a project volunteer.

3. We need a few items - We're hoping a local business is able to loan us a manual pallet jack during the 14-days of our project from September 27-October 10. We've looked into purchase or rent of this item, but hoped we might borrow and put those funds toward other needed items. Additional enhancements we'd like to provide for our community, but  are outside the budget for this project can be found in the wishlist below. Please consider making a donation toward these items to help us make your library even better!

This chair pairs perfect with a mobile tablet table. Total cost plus shipping is $399, but you can donate as much or as little as you wish to this item. Just click the donate button and choose your own amount to donate toward this item.

Tablet Side Table

These laptops tables are the hottest piece of furniture in the modern library. They’re sturdy enough to hold tablets and laptops and light-weight enough that they’re mobile too. With these convenient tables our guests can easily compute anywhere in the library they choose. We'd like to have three of these in the library.
